Directions to ”Features and Futures of Digital Labor”

The conference INDL-5 “Features and Futures of Digital Labor” will take place on November 3-5, 2022 at the Central building of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (30 Panepistimiou St., 106 79 Athens, Greece). The building is located at the very center of the city in front of the station “Panepistimio” of the Metro line 2.

Athens airport is Eleftherios Venizelos. It is outside the city, but there is good connection with the city center (and other areas). There are three ways to get to the center.

  • You can take the Metro line 3. It’s a direct connection to the city center, without changes and the trip takes around 45 minutes. Ticket cost is 9 € one way, 16 € round trip. At Syntagma station you can change for the line 2 and get off at Panepistimio, where the venue of the conference is located.
  • You can take the bus line X95. The destination is Syntagma again, and it takes a little bit more (around one hour). You can buy the ticket (5,5 €) from the booths just outside the Arrival Area of the airport.
  • Taxi. Easy to find – there is a line just outside the Arrival Area. There is a flat rate to the city center: 38 € from 05:00 to 24:00 and 54 € from 24:00 to 05:00.

Athens has several historic landmarks: the Acropolis, the Ancient Agora, the Panathinaikon Stadium, and a number of museums. It also offers a lively nightlife with a wide variety of theaters, concerts, bar, and restaurants.

Moving in the city is easy. You’ll mostly need to move in the center, where everything is in walking distance. Just use a good map or an app to find your way. If you wish to visit more remote places use the subway. There are, of course, bus lines too, but they are more complicated. In any case, the ticket is the same for all public transportation (1.20 €) and it lasts 90 minutes, no matter how many vehicles you change. Tickets can be bought in various places but more easily available from the vending machines in metro stations, which also accept credit and debit cards.
